This work shows the right side of my face, while the left side of my face is vanishing. The left side of my head has a rainbow bursting out of it, along with several little shapes and lines. The metaphor I chose to represent is “Let your mind wander.” This metaphor means allowing the mind to be free in thought and imagination. It means to have no boundaries when it comes to imagination. To represent this, I chose a rainbow because a rainbow represents enlightenment and creation.
I chose to make this piece an open composition to emphasize the idea of letting the mind wander. The word I chose to incorporate in this piece is create. The only way to create something new and innovative is by expanding the mind and thinking outside the box. Great things aren’t created by sticking to the status quo.
I incorporate several different shapes into this piece. They’re not “just shapes.” Shapes carry value and meaning, too. For example, the square shapes I used for my glasses carries more value, for the square represents the stabilization of energy. I also used several circles in this piece. Circles represents the personification of wholeness. Shape’s meanings add much more value to the interpretation of the work.
I purposely have the “Create” turned sideways to represent that the things one can imagine is not always going to be straightforward. It could be odd and go in a completely different direction. Normally, things we imagine are odd. In addition to the word “Create,” I added a period to the end of it to add more power to the word and emphasize its importance.
